The outer edges of the painting , or cinematic
'letterbox', are painted in black. The ‘image’
held within the letterbox is of interior
space through which incidental paint marks
float and produce 'false' shadows. The painting
uses classical process of 'drawing' with
coloured varnishes, layer by layer, to increase
spatial depth and chromatic variation. |
